Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, I’m guessing that you too are obsessed with Euphoria. Not watched it yet? GO AND WATCH IT RIGHT NOW (after reading this article, ahem).
While the music, actors and drama keep you hooked – the makeup is also a major factor, with the show’s lead makeup artist Donni Davy scooping an Emmy award for her work on the show in 2020.
From rhinestone crystals to out-there eyeliner, Euphoria’s beauty looks have become as iconic as the show itself. While they might be a bit OTT for your Monday morning meeting, there’s no better time to try them out than at your Halloween party of choice.
The best news? Unlike an OTT gory serial killer or Walking Dead style zombie, you’ll likely already have the products needed to create these looks. Plus, they are the perfect options for those looking to dress up but still look chic and in touch with their pop culture. Win, win, right?!
Below, I break down 5 of the best Euphoria makeup looks and select the products you need to recreate the look IRL if you do need to add a few bits to your makeup stash…
Euphoria Halloween makeup inspo #1: Kat’s rainbow eyes
Trust me: you don’t need to be a pro MUA to recreate this look. It all comes down to the products.
Let’s start with the base – keep things glowy and fresh with something lightweight. I love NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, £35.50, Boots, for breathable coverage that will last all day (and night) long.
Next up: the brows. Obviously Barbie Ferreira (who plays Kat) has mega brows – but if you’re lacking in the arches, use something like Benefit’s Brow Microfilling Brow Pen, £23.50, Cult Beauty to add extra fullness in the brow department. Then, go in with Huda Beauty’s #BOMBBROWS Full ‘n Fluffy Fiber Gel, £15, Cult Beauty and brush up your brows to create a fluffy-looking, feathered effect.
This look is all about the eyeshadow. The Morphe x Maddie Ziegler Imagination Palette, £24, LookFantastic is perfect for this.
Use the gorgeous bright blue shade (5) across the eyelid, buffing the product to the outer corners of the eye and up through the eye crease, before adding a touch of the ‘Possy’ shade for some added glitter. Then, sweep the warm, yellow hue of ‘Like Butter’ up over your brow bone.
Euphoria Halloween makeup inspo #2: Cassie’s ‘60s liner
Makeup artist Donni Davy described this look for Cassie as “shift[ing] her whole vibe to be Season 1 era Jules x Maddy x Cassie hybrid that would appeal to Nate or possibly to his subconscious.”
From the 60s liner to the brushed up brows and glitter eyeshadow – it makes for a mega Halloween look.
The good news is, I reckon you could recreate this eyeliner look with any eyeshadow combo and still achieve the same impressive payoff. But if you’re wanting to follow Cassie’s inspo by the book then a great colour combination is layering ICONIC London’s Glaze Crayon in Onyx, £24, Boots, – a beautiful metallic silver shimmer – on top of a light blue shadow like e.l.f’s Cookies N Dreams No Budge Shadow Stick in Chill Zone, £5, Superdrug.
For the eyeliner itself? Not going to lie – this is where some skill is required. A good tip is to lightly trace the eyeliner’s outline with a pencil first, before layering it with a liquid formula like NYX Professional Makeup Epic Ink Liner, £9, Cult Beauty, for the ultimate staying power.
Finish with lashings of Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara, £10.99, Boots and brush your brows up to the sky with something like Patrick Ta’s Major Brow Shaping Wax, £20, Cult Beauty.
Euphoria Halloween makeup inspo #3: Maddy’s iconic rhinestones
It’s impossible to talk about Euphoria makeup looks without mentioning rhinestones. Maddy’s iconic accessory can elevate any eye look. Whether you trace your entire smoky eye look, add gems into your brows or place them over your eye crease – when it comes to Halloween makeup, I believe the more rhinestones, the better.
These BH Cosmetics Gem On Decorative Face & Body Jewels, £5, Beauty Bay are perfect and don’t cost a fortune either. Finish with some mega lashes like Huda Beauty’s Eazy Lash, £17, Boots, and you’re good to go.
Euphoria Halloween makeup inspo #4: Jules’ midnight smoky eyes
If, like me, you’re a bit cack-handed when it comes to eye makeup, a grungy smoky eye like Jules’ glittery vibe is a great shout. Why? Because the messier and more ‘lived in’ it looks – the better. It’s also a great option for Halloween because it doesn’t really matter if it gets smudged and smeared throughout the day.
By Beauty Bay’s The Midnight Vault, £25.20, Beauty Bay is an epic eyeshadow palette that contains all the deep navy, electric blue and gorge glitters you need to achieve this look.
Finish with a soft black kohl pencil like Beauty Pie’s Supercolour Eyeliner, £7.50, (for members), Beauty Pie, and tonnes of waterproof mascara.
Euphoria Halloween makeup inspo #5: Kat’s Grunge Fairy Lips
While Euphoria makeup looks tend to focus on the eyes – every now and again a bold lip will come into play and it’s usually thanks to Kat.
This goth-fairy vibe MUA Donni Davy created is gorge and perfect for spooky Halloween occasions – especially if you don’t feel like you have the skills to pull off an intense eye look.
Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte Ultra Comfort Lipstick in Famous, £18, Boots, is the perfect burgundy brown, velvety-soft lipstick to pull off this look. It’s totally transfer-proof and wears for up to 8-hours with no touch-ups, making it perfect for long parties.
