The girls that get it, get it. The cult label The Frankie Shop has been on every It girl of the season and is famous for its iconic boxy silhouettes, boyish charm and chic neutral combinations adored by minimalists across the globe. They have flagship stores across Paris and New York but unfortunately for us, they’re yet to set up a bricks and mortar store in the UK.
This, (along with its mid-designer price points) is why I’ve taken it upon myself to find the hottest dupes on the high street right now which you can shop IRL and online, making our hearts, wardrobes and our wallets happy! And leaving us with more cash for our silly little overpriced iced coffees. Let’s get into it…
The oversized trouser suit
Nothing screams ‘The Frankie Shop’ more than an oversized blazer with matching trousers. A suit needs to have a couple of key features to make it TFS-approved. The extra padding on the shoulders gives it this androgynous vintage edge which can be really hard to find. Arket does the best TFS dupes, IMHO, and this one is absolutely incredible. The cool-toned grey look to this outfit is a key colour for The Frankie Shop and a colour palette it often does full collections in.
The pinstripe co-ord
I’ve been lusting after a few pieces across their website and very rarely do they do patterns. However, the one pattern the brand does entertain is a pinstripe.
The Frankie Shop is known for its co-ords and I love when it has full looks in matching pinstripes. I’ve found this oversized number from H&M and knew it would create that perfectly effortless pinstriped look I love TFS for.
All-black maxi skirt suit
Who hasn’t currently got a maxi skirt in their wardrobe right now? They have absolutely blown up this season and have been spotted all over New York Fashion Week. The Frankie Shop has embraced this design way before it was mainstream and have mastered its styling.
The brand often mixes the workwear aesthetic in with their high-end tailoring which is a contrast I personally enjoy. I love the playfulness that The Frankie Shop can bring by merging corporate suiting with a relaxed aesthetic. This is why I knew teaming a cropped fun silhouette in this blazer shape would work perfectly alongside a cargo maxi skirt giving off this cool but put-together outfit. Very The Frankie Shop.
Cargo co-ords
Speaking of trends that have blown up recently, the cargo parachute-style has hit the ground running. There are so many great high street options out there right now that look uber-premium and don’t require you to spend a great deal.
I love the silhouette the material creates: the extra volume looks like it walked straight off a runway, but it’s super-wearable for real life, too. The Frankie Shop always tends to lean towards co-ords and matchy pieces.
Sleeveless tailoring
Waistcoats are this season’s modern alternative to our beloved blazers. I’ve seen plenty of waistcoats across the high street all summer but the details we need to look out for to ensure true The Frankie Shop Status are as follows:
- A muted preferably cool-toned colour palette
- An oversized silhouette
- Fluidity in the fabric
- Sharp shoulders
This one from Zara is the perfect The Frankie Shop dupe and I love that they have the trousers to match to seal the deal.
To nail The Frankie Shop look, just remember the key points. Oversized always, big voluminous silhouettes always, muted and neutral palettes, co-ordinates are king and where possible, keep it tailored. These golden rules will ensure that even the most keenest of eyes will never know the difference between a high street pick up and the real deal.
