Although I haven’t technically needed to adhere to a school calendar for a few years now, when September rolls around I still can’t help but feel that back-to-school feeling. Where I used to be thrilled by the prospect of shopping for a new pencil case and scented gel pens, September is now the time I look to refresh my beauty routine with the latest and greatest products.
Post-summer, beauty launches come thick and fast, and this month has seen a host of fantastic new launches across skincare, makeup, fragrance and beyond. In a bid to make your shopping experience as seamless as possible, I’ve whittled down the six best beauty buys for budgets from £10 to £100+ from everything that’s come across my desk this month.

Under £10: Garnier Gentle Hydrating Deep Face Cleanser, £6.99
Affordable brands are really stepping up in the cleanser game; stripping, grapefruit-scented formulations are out in favour of barrier-supporting, nourishing ingredients.
This milky gel cleanser is a must-try for anyone with sensitive skin, as well as those who want a gentle yet effective morning cleanse or second evening cleanse; It left my skin feeling soft as a baby and hydrated to boot.
Under £20: The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum, £17.30
Another great affordable skincare launch comes from high street favourite The Ordinary, who has just bought out a Pepto-Bismol pink Soothing & Barrier Support Serum. This formula blends ceramides, vitamin B12 and niacinamide along with a cocktail of other skin-loving ingredients to form a mighty barrier support serum that helps to take down redness and irritation. Barbiecore x skin barrier is the collab we never knew we needed.
Under £30: Sol de Janeiro After Hours Fragrance Mist, £22
If you’ve fallen in love with Sol de Janeiro’s previous fragrances, you’re in for a treat with this one. Like the grown-up sister to its family of scent siblings, this perfume is a floral, fruity gourmand fragrance that makes you smell delicious and borderline edible.
Although it’s definitely sweet, the creamy vanilla, amber and jasmine make it more of a velvety, night-time fragrance than the other lighter, ‘daytime’ scents from the brand. This particular mist is currently limited edition, so don’t wait around to snap it up or you might be too late.
Under £40: Gisou Hair Repair Serum, £35
Hair feeling a bit lacklustre or frazzled after a heavy summer? Add this to your routine stat. This serum is the hydrating boost my dry ends were desperate for, locking in moisture to strands without compromising on the heaviness that can come with some hair oils.
Micro-encapsulated honey, plant-based keratin and a blend of nourishing oils work to seal split ends while amping up the shine and strengthening your hair, so you can say bye-bye to breakage and bonjour to a full glossy, healthy head.
Under £60: Anastasia Beverly Hills Fall Romance Palette, £55
I’m a self-confessed ABH palette obsessive; They’ve been my go-to eyeshadows for years and I recommend them to everyone, no matter what level of makeup skill they possess. Intense pigments and effortless blendability are something the brand delivers with every palette, and ABH has nailed it again with this one.
I love that this isn’t just another warm-toned brown and orange autumn palette – instead, it features a colour story of deep greens, rich purples, magical duo-chrome lilacs and greens, and a couple of classic ‘transition’ shades, all housed in a beautiful velvet palette. This would make an incredible present, but personally, I’ll be keeping this one for myself.
Splurge: D.S & Durga Deep Dark Vanilla, £148
Transitioning into a new season is the perfect excuse to buy a new perfume IMO (you can quote me on that), and I’ve fallen head over heels with this fragrance for autumn. Don’t be fooled by the name, because this scent is vanilla like you’ve never known it before.
On the first spritz, you’ll be met with an explosion of smokey pink pepper, which tempers down to green accords of cypress and vine before settling to a woody, vanilla and patchouli base. If you favour old-money vibes and stormy autumn evenings by the fire, this one is for you. If you desire a sweeter vanilla, you’ll prefer my Sol de Janeiro pick.
