Pretty much anything Rihanna does goes viral. From her reactions on red carpets (“They’re covered in Swarovski crystals, girl!”) to rewriting the rules of maternity fashion (the rules are, there are no rules), she’s got the modern-day Midas touch.
Unsurprisingly, the same has proven true for her beauty line, Fenty Beauty.
Since Fenty Beauty launched in 2017, it’s gone from strength to strength. It was one of the first celebrity beauty brands to really resonate with both millennials and Gen-Z, with what seemed like every new product sending the internet into meltdown.
Whether it was Fenty Beauty Glow Bomb Heat Universal Lip Luminizer + Plumper, £19, Boots, Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick, £21, Boots or Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint, £27, Boots, we couldn’t get enough.
The brand also became famous for leading the way with inclusivity; its 50-shade OG foundation was undeniably a trailblazer in beauty.
TikTok’s latest obsession, however, is the Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Hydrating Lip Stain, £17, Boots. This super sleekly-packaged product started going viral on TikTok following @Sarah_wolak’s video applying the lip stain for the first time.
The video showed Sarah applying the shade Mai Tai, then wiping it off to reveal the long-lasting lip tint underneath. The result? In her words: “slay, slay slay slay.”
So naturally, the Eliza beauty team had to try it out for ourselves, and it’s safe to say this lip stain exceeded our wildest hopes and dreams.
Fenty Beauty’s Poutsicle Hydrating Lip Stain has launched with just four colours, but we’re greedily hoping more are in the pipeline.
As for the existing shades, you won’t find any nudes here. Instead it’s all about intense, glossy brights: Mai Tai is a magenta pink, Strawberry Sangria, a bright red, Zesty Bestie, an orange-red and Berry Banger, a juicy purple.
The Fenty Lip Stain is a delight to apply, quite literally gliding onto the lips with the precise doe-foot applicator, so even if you’re a novice when it comes to lipstick application, you can’t go far wrong.
The immediate result is stunning: the lip stain has the high-shine finish of a gloss coupled with the bold pigment of a liquid lipstick, with the added benefit of a super silky finish rather than a sticky one. Basically, Fenty’s Hydrating Lip Tints are the summer upgrade your lips need – nay, deserve.
But the lip stain still has one more trick up its sleeve. Whether you wait for the immediate shine to wear off throughout the day or blot it with a tissue, underneath will reveal a lip stain that lasts all. Day. Long.
As @Sarah_Wolak describes in her video, “you would think I just ate a popsicle,” or at the very least learnt the secret to the perfect Parisian blotted lip.
The Eliza team weren’t the only ones running to get their hands on it, with the lip stain currently having sold out at Boots in all but one shade. If you’re quick, you might still be in with a chance of getting it, but if you can’t wait for the restock, why not check out our round-up of the best lipsticks for dry lips.
