Halloween is almost upon us and I’ve rounded up all the best Halloween nail ideas for 2023.
Because whether you’re big into Halloween or not, in my humble opinion, there’s always a good excuse to get your nail art game on point.
And while Halloween makeup looks are great, I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time (or energy) to create full-on Trick or Treat-ing glam, which is where Halloween nails can come in.
From mystic manicures to Frankenstein Frenchies, these manicures might be more chic than spooky – but I can promise you, they’re all scarily good.
So whether you’re heading to a Halloween party or watching Hocus Pocus with your besties, get ready to scroll, screenshot and take these Halloween nail ideas down to your nearest nail art salon, stat…
Full moon mode
How incredible is the detail in this night sky-inspired manicure?! Fitting a whole galaxy on one nail, now that’s magic.
Bones and all
This adorable skeleton design will capture your heart – quite literally.
Crimson claws
You can never be too extra when it comes to Halloween. Case in point: these metallic red stiletto nails, embellished with crystals, piercings, and of course, skulls.
Hallo-graphic
Who said ghosts have to be spooky? Not this mani. I can’t stop staring at the chrome-effect tips that take this bejewelled design into a whole other dimension.
Spooky sparkles
Glitter isn’t just for Christmas, so break out that bottle of sparkly polish early and paint out some spooky characters for October 31st.
Slime trail
Ectoplasm, but make it chic! Get swirling with neon lime and black nail polish before topping with glitter for a sparkly slime mani.
Clowning around
Turn that sad clown into a sparkly-eyed one by adding mini diamantes on top of your design.
Pink widow
Just because it’s Halloween, that doesn’t mean you have to put your favourite pink polish down! This hot pink spiderweb design has us all caught up.
Casper, but make it cute
Betina Goldstein is one of my all-time favourite nail artists and if you were to take a scroll through my IG saved feed, you’d find thousands of her creations. This cute ghost mani is perfect for the spooky season but still chic enough to pull off for the weeks either side. Love.
Cute Halloween cartoons
Go full-on scary season with these cute Halloween print decals. Combining pumpkins, bats, vampire teeth, black cats and ghosts, they’ve got Halloween all wrapped up. Gorge.
Halloween chic
For a super chic twist on a Halloween manicure, mix solid black nails with nude and black negative space designs, and don’t forget to add a delicate touch of silver glitter for that magic finish.
Monochrome mani
Combining a classic monochrome French mani with these seriously cute Spooky Sheet stickers from Deco Miami, this fun manicure is one that’s arguably more chic than spooky.
Midnight sky
Not just the name of our favourite Stevie Nicks x Miley Cyrus collaboration, this celestial-inspired look will look sophisticated well past Hallows Eve, with a touchy of witchy magic for the night.
Deep space
Is there anything more terrifying than the thought of infinite space? Probably not. We can’t deny that this manicure looks beautiful though.
Simply spooktacular
If you’re into minimal nail art designs then you’re bound to love this dreamy design. Keeping the base of the nail completely natural and the length short and squoval, it allows all eyes to be on the cute Halloween cartoons. I’m obsessed.
Mystic mani
Embrace your inner witch with this mystic manicure from Peachi Nails. With serpents, a third eye and crescent moon patterns, it’s perfect for Halloween and beyond.
Pumpkin orange
Understated and classic, a warm orange shade ties in perfectly with autumn nails for the season while giving a nod to the squash du jour.
Winter nights
Another design that will keep you going right through to November is this gorgeous monochrome manicure from Vivian W. With stars, moons and a drip-down almond shape French tip, it’s a great Halloween nail design that won’t feel out of place weeks later.
Frankenstein frenchy
Simple but effective: this Frankenstein-inspired French manicure has Halloween written all over it. Plus, it’s fairly simple to DIY. Whack on a scary movie and grab your nail art tools –this is one you can totally try at home.
Glitter ‘n’ gore
The ability to combine this much sheer extravagence, glitter and spookiness into one manicure has me hooked. It’s giving Burlesque and Beetlejuice all at once, and I can’t get enough
Subtle spider web
Want something spooky but understated? This subtle spider web design is perfect. With a matte black base coat and shiny web design, it’s great for Halloween – but won’t feel out of place if you keep it for a few weeks longer.
Going for blood
I’m a sucker for a crimson manicure all year round, and there’s no denying that a blood-red shade adds that extra allure for Halloween. Femme fatale’s unite!
Batwoman nails
I’m not going to lie; I don’t know if it’s the bat tattoo or the batwoman design nails that I’m loving more here. Perfect for Halloween and beyond, this is the design I’m taking to my nail salon this year – just FYI.
Creepy crawly manicure
With just a hint of Halloween, this web manicure is a great, understated option for a spooky design. Plus, once Halloween’s over, you can simply paint over the two negative-space nails for a full-on monochrome mani effect. Perfect.
Green slime
These ghoulish drip design nails are ultra creepy and yet still cute – the perfect combination for a Halloween manicure, in my opinion. Mix up the colours or go for red for a really creepy creation.
Barely-there blood
Another Betina Goldstein classic, this barely-there blood drip is an ultra-chic but scarily good Halloween nail option. It’s chic with a vampire twist – a Bella Swan manicure, if you will.
Ultra-shiny black
If all else fails: go black. It’s wonderful for Halloween and then still looks ultra-chic and not at all out of place the next day. Win win.
Feline fingers
Not dressing up as a cat this year? Wear one on your nails instead. This cute cat design is not only purrrrfect for Halloween (sorry) but a fun, feline mani for any cat lovers out there. Win win.
