I visited NYC for the first time last summer armed with dollar bills to throw at any and every makeup store in sight. No holiday is ever complete without a trip (or ten) to Sephora; there’s something about visiting a Sephora store on holiday that just hits different. My only promises I made to myself were that I wouldn’t spend too much money (#failed) and that my purchases could only be made on beauty products that weren’t available in the UK.
So, when I spotted a huge Haus Labs By Lady Gaga stand, I knew my basket was about to get a whole lot heavier. Despite popular discourse about whether celebrity beauty brands are overrated or not, if it’s by Lady Gaga, you know the products are going to be out of this world. Gaga has given us some of the most iconic beauty looks over the years, from her 2016 David Bowie-inspired electric-blue shimmer eyes, to her signature red lip.
That day, I purchased the PhD Hybrid Lip Oil in ‘Tint,’ (a weightless sheer pink) and the Optic Intensity Eco Gel Eyeliner Pencil in ‘Cobalt Matte,’ the ultimate standout blue. It’s safe to say both products quickly secured a permanent spot in my makeup bag.
So, when it was announced that Haus Labs was finally making its way overseas to the London Sephora store and on Sephora.co.uk, I knew it was my chance to not only top up but to try a few newbies too.
Here’s everything you need to know about Haus Labs launching into the UK market, the products available and the ones I’ve personally tried and recommend.
What Is Haus Labs?
Haus Labs is an artistry makeup range created by Lady Gaga.
The cruelty-free and vegan brand first launched exclusively on Amazon back in 2019 under the name Haus Laboratories and was only available in nine countries at the time (including the UK).
However, last June the brand relaunched as Haus Labs exclusively at Sephora, making it more widely available for beauty fans, including IRL. Sephora UK finally got access to the brand in June 2023.

How expensive is Haus Labs?
The products retail between £24 and £47, which is quite a bit more expensive than other celebrity makeup lines available on the market.
I really rate the products that I’ve tried and offerings like the foundation and lip oils are currently the talk of the town over on TikTok, so it seems as if the quality could be on par with the higher price point.

The Haus Labs products I do and don’t recommend:
Optic Intensity Eco Gel Eyeliner Pencil
As a lover of colourful eyeliner, I knew from the get-go that the eyeliner pencil would be one of the first products I’d try from the brand, and it did not disappoint.
Infused with vitamin E and argan oil, the pencils glide on effortlessly for a standout pop of colour. I’ve tried three out of the twelve shades, which are ‘Cobalt Matte’, ‘Chartreuse Matte’ and ‘Sienna Matte.’
I personally found the ‘Chartreuse Matte’ formula to be a little chalky; I’m not sure if it’s due to it being the brightest one or not, but this is the shade I least reach for.
PhD Hybrid Lip Oil
Truth be told, I’ve never tried a lip oil that I haven’t loved and that includes these ones from Haus Labs.
The formula feels super hydrating on the lips and offers a sheer tint without feeling sticky. I’ve tried shades ‘Primary’ and ‘Tint’, which I find really complement my complexion.
Power Sculpt Velvet Bronzer with Fermented Arnica
I’ve never really been much of a powder girly, but this bronzer (which I have in Deep Level 11) has managed to convert me. It adds a really nice sunkissed warmth to the cheeks and blends well into the skin when worn on its own.
I’d love to see the brand expand the shade offering in the future with deeper shades.
Atomic Shake Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick
This is one product I wanted to love but sadly didn’t. At £28 a pop, I personally wouldn’t be able to justify repeat purchases of the liquid lipstick (which I tried in ‘Rosewood Shine’) as it isn’t as transfer-proof as the packaging claims and for me, feels slightly sticky on the lips.
I’m definitely more of a lip oil girl, so will be sticking to my trusty PhD Hybrid Lip Oils.
Bio-Radiant Gel-Powder Highlighter with Fermented Arnica
Lastly, I decided to try out the highlighter as I was feeling nostalgic about the days in which none of my makeup looks were complete without a large dusting of highlighter.
I really liked ‘Chocolate Opal’ as it adds bronzed vibes with a radiant glow to my complexion. I was surprised at just how light it felt on the skin.
A little certainly goes a long way when applying it to the cheeks but like the liquid lipstick, I don’t think I could justify £44 for a highlighter that I know I wouldn’t reach for that often.
