On the lookout for your next night out outfit? Well, forget browsing for dresses or pulling together the perfect jeans and a nice top ensemble, what you need is a party jumpsuit. Not only are they incredibly versatile with a style to suit every occasion but they offer maximum fashion points with minimal effort: you simply slip it on and you’re good to go.
Sounds great, right? Well read on for my round up of all the jumpsuit styles sure to have you party ready faster than you can pop a bottle of prosecco…
A LBJ (Little Black Jumpsuit)
Move over LBD, right now it’s all about the LBJ. Striking the perfect balance between sultry and chic, a little black jumpsuit is the ideal outfit for when you just don’t know what to wear, as let’s be honest, everyone feels great in black. I can’t get enough of Ellen’s feathered figure-hugging jumpsuit or, for a smarter take try a more tailored fit. Either way one of these is guaranteed to have you looking great and ready to party.
Plus, while all jumpsuits are super easy wearing thanks to the fact you can just slip them on and go, the black jumpsuit takes the prize when it comes to time-saving as there’s no need to spend ages planning your accessories either. Matching black accessories? Chic. Clashing neon accessories? Iconic. Metallic finishes? Shine on. Basically, the LBJ means total stress-free dressing leaving more time for the pre-night out selfie shoot, something I’m most definitely here for.
A satin jumpsuit
For a luxe take on the jumpsuit, I’d suggest a slinky, satin number. Ideal for autumn weddings or black-tie events, these are a great alternative to slip dresses offering the same flowing fit with a little more flexibility – especially important if you’re prone to ending up on the dancefloor with your dress hitched up to your knees at the end of the night.
For a polished feel, stick to pastels and metallic tones rather than hyper brights (although more on those later) and pair with neutral accessories. Wide leg styles are also a win for an air of soft sophistication. Ensure they skim the floor for an instant leg-lengthening effect.
A bright jumpsuit
I told you brighter styles were coming, and it doesn’t get much brighter than a punchy, colour block jumpsuit. Wearing one shade head to toe is a huge trend at-the-moment and a jumpsuit does the hard work for you making it even easier to re-create the look.
While you can keep it classic and let your jumpsuit take centre stage, it doesn’t have to be quite so simple. Add textured accessories in the same colour palette (think a feathered or embellished bag) to add interest to your outfit, while layers of chunky jewellery will also elevate your look.
An embellished jumpsuit
Any party where the guests are wearing embellished jumpsuits is definitely one I want to be invited too. These show-stopping one pieces are all about fun, with the addition of diamantes, feathers and added extras to take them to the next level.
If you go for an embellished fit, keep your accessories simple. Strappy heels or pointed ballet flats are the perfect finishing touch alongside a mini top handle bag. And when it comes to jewellery remember you don’t want to overcomplicate things when your jumpsuit has so much going for it, delicate pieces like a simple pair of hoops would be my go-to.
A printed jumpsuit
While we’re regularly praising the simplicity of classic black and minimalist shapes, sometimes you want an outfit that makes an all-out statement: enter the printed jumpsuit. Before you panic, I get it, wearing head to toe print definitely seems intimidating, but it can also be empowering too. Believe me, you’re sure to catch everyone’s eye at the party in one of these bold jumpsuits.
To pull off this look, picking a cut and print that works for you is incredibly important otherwise you’ll be left regretting your fashion boldness. If you usually opt for smart tailored separates follow this through in your jumpsuit with a tailored style. Similarly, if you’re not a fan of colour, a monochrome print will ensure you’re not taken too far out of your comfort zone.
