There’s just something about a trouser suit that makes me feel like I can take on any and everything.
Tailoring is really tricky to find as a size 16, especially if you’re in between sizes and even more so if you’re petite or tall, but I’ve pounded the pavement to see what the high street is saying for us – and I’ve found some gorgeous options. Suiting is great if you’re in a corporate office environment, if you’ve got a spring wedding coming up, or even if you’re a more casual dresser, there are so many ways to dress down a suit to make it feel relaxed.
As you already know, I’m a huge advocate of a co-ord – I’m always here for a matching moment and I think suit sets are great for looking easily put together without having to try. We’re all busy, right? Why not let your outfit do that heavy lifting for you?
IMHO, the high street is killing it at the moment when it comes to tailoring. There are myriad colours (if that’s what you’re after), plenty of neutrals, two-piece and three-piece options… the world is our oyster!
Let’s check out the line-up, shall we?
M&S
Can we have a moment for this Kelly green suit set from M&S Autograph? This is going to be a sell-out, for sure. The pure Irish linen is so comfortable and easy to wear for when the temps start to rise. Green is such A Moment for spring and it’s going to be really easy to mix and match with a silk blouse. You could pair it with loafers for the office or trainers for a more off-duty look.
Did I mention that it also comes with a shorts option? That will be absolutely *chef’s kiss* for summer, get on it!
Next
This pastel yellow number is such a dopamine boost! I’ve found another linen-blend beauty – who doesn’t want a light and breezy summer suit? I noticed that it has a subtle pinstripe lining that you can see peeking out on the cuffs of the sleeves, which is a cute detail that adds an expensive feel.
This one also comes with a matching crop top to turn it into a three-piece moment! Iconic. And with some beautiful gold accessories and white sandals? To die for!
COS
I feel like COS just goes from strength to strength each season – when it comes to the colour palette, the fabric quality and the styles, it’s setting the standard. It has some stunning suits at the moment – I found a single-breasted suit in a raspberry colour and another double-breasted suit in a ultra violet. If you’re really into your workwear but want a more modern and elevated feel, COS is going to be it for you.
H&M
You know I’m a pink lover at heart, and there is just something about a powder pink I can’t stay away from. If you’re on a budget then you know H&M has got you. The matching trousers have an elasticated waist at the back, which is great for those of us who are in-between sizes or fluctuate, then you know you’ve got a bit of extra room. I think this would be such a sweet option for Easter or a spring wedding – it makes a statement without being too much.
And of course you know, I always vote for colour so hopefully you found a bit of bright inspo to level-up your spring wardrobe or at least get some ideas for new looks to put together. If you’re shopping online, be sure to look out for those extended sizes or plus size ranges on site where you can also find these gems in a size 18+.
