I know, as enticing as the Zara summer sale looks right now, it’s the new-in section that deserves your attention, I promise. As ever, it’s leading the way with trend-led pieces that’ll freshen up our outfits and have us looking on point for the new season.
In the past, Zara would drop seasonal collections that would steadily stay in stock until the next came around. It meant that if you saw a dress you loved, you could buy it on your next payday or even throw it on your birthday wish list and still have a great chance of getting it. But whether the brand is just producing smaller size runs or whether we’re all just shopping a lot more, it’s safe to say that the best pieces in Zara just don’t hang around long at all.
You’ll all know by now that if you spot something in-store and online (and considered how often you’ll wear it and if it has a true place in your wardrobe, obviously), that you won’t regret buying it while it’s available.
It’s my job as a fashion editor to spot the future bestsellers in any collection, so you can trust me to help you weigh up what’s truly worth rushing to the e-checkout for. Now that the summer collection has begun dropping, here are the new-in pieces in Zara that you need to have on your radar…
The It dress
We can thank The Little Mermaid and the rise in mermaidcore for the sudden rise in all things metallic and mesh, and this festival-ready midi dress ticks both boxes. Wear it with a Skims bodysuit underneath and chunky boots – perfect for Wireless this week!
The cargo skirt
Wide-leg trousers are a huge trend for spring/summer, and a camel pair are super-wearable for the office. Wear this pair with a logo T-shirt, blazer and chunky dad sandals for now, then team it with a polo knit and loafers when the weather cools down.

The cult-shirt-to-be
Tie-dye is big news this season, and if you missed out on Zara’s It dresses in the tropical print, you’ll be pleased to know the autumn-ready iteration is in stock now.
Wear it over a block-coloured bikini on your summer holiday, and with jeans and strappy gold heels for evening drinks with the girls.
The could-be-designer dupe
Take one look at the chic mules from The Row, Neous, By Far or Bottega Veneta, and the origins of this strappy leather thong style will become clear. Zara may have taken its cues from the catwalk here, but these are a great pair of shoes in their own right. The perfect height, wearable black, thick straps – tick, tick, tick. Run, don’t walk.
The Barbiecore linen co-ords
This summer is shaping up to be a boiling hot one, which means you’ll need wafty linen co-ords on speed dial, since they’re the chicest way to get through a heatwave.
This loose-fit style also ticks the Barbie box – the blush pink tone is trending, and will look great with chunky white sandals and a straw bag.
The workwear shirt
Summer workwear needs extra consideration – no one wants to be sweating in a stuffy trouser suit because you had to show office-face in a heatwave. A classic-with-a-twist shirt is the answer: team this chic oversized shirt with a linen maxi skirt and strappy flat sandals for a stylish summery look.
The wedding guest dress
Midi dresses might steal a lot of the limelight when it comes to wedding guest options, but I’d argue a mini (done correctly) is an excellent cute option. Take this caped jewel-toned number: it’s dramatic without being OTT, statement without being in your face, and in a shade that works year-round. Team it with strappy silver mules, a beaded bag and a red lip.
The summery bag
You can’t book a bottomless brunch this season without having this little patchwork number on standby. If you like to carry around more than just your house keys and Fenty lip gloss, then this is the smart-casual bag to know. It’s roomy but the structured shape will elevate a jeans and trainers look.
