The ultimate finishing touch to any party outfit is an incredible pair of shoes. Not only will the right pair bring your whole look together, a premium-looking pair that are actually comfortable to walk in (and dance in!) will make you feel extra confident. Confidence and style are two ingredients that will make your outfit look more expensive, even when the actual cost of a pair of party shoes is really affordable.
The main things I look out for when shopping for expensive-looking party shoes on the high street are fabrics, heel height and extra details. I’ll steer towards patent, leather or suede finishes in winter for that ultra expensive look. I also love finding shoes with diamantés and embellishment for party season. If there’s a time for going all out, it’s now.
Patent platform heels
Platform heels are a timeless option for styling into your party wardrobe this winter. Not only is a closed toe heel extra practical in winter, the platform built into the shoe means that they’re more comfortable to walk in. Naturally, the more effortlessly you can walk, the chicer you’ll look!
My recommendation would be to choose sleek patent or luxurious velvet finishes, as they will look extra expensive for winter and won’t fade or scuff like summery cotton styles. You can style them with sheer tights, polka dot tights, or even sheer socks and they’ll give a retro spin to velvet suits, trousers, and dresses.
Sleek ankle boots
You can’t go wrong with a pair of classic black ankle boots to wear underneath wide-leg trousers, smart jeans, velvet suits, or even sequin trousers for extra festive looks.
I would suggest finding styles with premium suede-looking finishes and elegant heel arches if you’d like your whole outfit to look more expensive and ready for a glam evening out. I’m loving the bow embellished detailing on this Deichmann pair, which give the impression that they’re expensive designer shoes.
Metallic block heels
Metallics are everywhere this season, from silver trousers to silver heels. Trending or not, metallic shoes are a party wear staple that never date. Not only do metallic shoes go with every colour on the wheel, they’re guaranteed to elevate an outfit with their extra shimmer.
A block heel is also your friend if you’re on your feet at Christmas drinks all night long and they’re a super versatile option for whether you’re wearing leather trousers and a top or an all-out party dress.
Embellished heels
We’re obsessed with the diamanté bow trend on designer shoes and have been waiting for party season to find the perfect pair, at a more affordable price point.
This season, I’m switching out court shoes for strappy sandals for a more contemporary look (and extra ankle support for wearing all evening long!) This pair from Deichmann tick every box.
Diamanté shoes
Swap sequins and glitter with diamanté shoes for winter 2023 to ensure your shoes look extra expensive and on trend. Whether you choose a slingback heel or prefer a flat shoe, they’ll add sparkle to an outfit without looking OTT.
I’d pair these slingback heels with wide leg trousers or a midi length sequin skirt for dinner and drinks, but would choose the flats for wearing day to night. Maybe your work Christmas party begins with a long lunch, followed by drinks after? Guaranteed, diamanté flats will save the day.
