A designer bag is the ultimate way to elevate your outfit from a mediocre level five to an “oh my god I thought that was Hayley Bieber for a second” level ten. However, some of us have more pressing things to spend our money on, such as our weekly Sainsbury’s shop, or our essential-to-survive three pumpkin spiced lattes a day.
As gorgeous as a Dior Saddle bag is, unless it’s able to give me the nutrients I need to live or get a part time job to help me pay my energy bills, I’m going to have to leave it on the shelf.
That’s where my favourite dupes come in. There is no shame in buying the high street’s version of a designer bag and often it’s the more sensible idea. Not just because of the money saving aspect, but also because trends come and go so quickly that you’ll end up buying something which is the absolute epitome of fashion and within a year you’ll be getting arrested by the fashion police for wearing it out in public.
So, I’ve collated this season’s best designer bag dupes to help you elevate your wardrobe (without fear of your bank calling to check if you’re a victim of fraud, after spending £2000 on one item.) You’re welcome!
Prada’s Cleo
I am the Prada Cleo’s ultimate fan girl. Whilst there is about 0.01% chance that I will ever have the honour of having her swinging from my arm, I was happy to accept my fate of admiring her from afar.
However, the Cleo shaped hole in my heart was recently filled by none other than trusty H&M who have come out with the most fabulous designer bag dupes. Run don’t walk to buy it before it sells out…
Dior’s Bobby
If your aesthetic is class and sophistication, look no further than Christian Dior for the ultimate bag collection.
But once you’re done scouring the website, save your money and turn to Mango for the perfect designer bag dupes. If you don’t own a crossbody bag then firstly, why?! And secondly, you need to snap this one up ASAP.
I’m a sucker for gold hardware and it’s cowboy-esque style will perfectly compliment all the western inspired pieces that are so on trend right now.
Loewe’s Anagram Pocket
If, like the rest of us, the Loewe raffia bag had you lusting this summer then I’m here to tell you that it’s time to let go and find a new obsession. Case in point: the Loewe Anagram Cut-Out Pocket Bag.
Now the sun has gone into hibernation, so too should your basket bags.
Instead, it’s time to fawn over tiny cut out crossbody bags that are just big enough to fit your card holder, hand sanitiser and lip gloss – the three life essentials.
However, if you’d rather spend your savings on cosy pub trips and gel manicures this season, then my No. 1 bag brand, JW Pei, is here to save the day. The brand has gone one step further than Loewe and added a contrast stitch which is currently one of my fave trends.
Fendi’s Baguette
P.S.A – if you want to channel your inner 90s It girl then this is the bag for you. The Fendi Baguette will never not be iconic and when I laid eyes on this Mango dupe I nearly passed away out of sheer excitement.
Every ‘cool girl’ to ever exist has once rocked a Fendi Baguette, from Gigi Hadid and Rihanna to Carrie Bradshaw and Paris Hilton, and Mango has now blessed us with this gorgeous dupe. Exude that main character energy every time you wear it.
Chloe’s Tess
The Chloe Tess originally came out in Autumn / Winter 2018 and has been a staple every year since. A black crossbody bag will always be a timeless classic and is a key piece to have in your wardrobe.
Zara is one of my go-to’s for great quality bags at a low price, and the structured style of this one means you can easily dress it up or down – who doesn’t love a two for one bargain?! I’d style this with a white graphic tee, oversized blazer and leather trousers.
Cult Gaia’s Hera
Sorry to bring up the ‘C’ word, but Christmas is well and truly on its way. And in my humble opinion nothing says Christmas more than a diamante adorned bag.
Whilst some of you may be lucky enough to find the Cult Gaia Hera waiting for you under the tree (if you are, what’s your address? Asking for a friend…), for those of us who won’t, this Public Desire bag is almost an exact dupe and will most definitely have people whispering to their friends on nights out debating if it’s actually the real thing.
