Ask any woman which item of clothing they feel the most stressed about shopping for is and I’ll bet my weight in denim that they’ll say jeans.
When Good American burst onto the scene in 2016, all eyes were on it as the first fully inclusive fashion brand with the largest denim launch in history. The brainchild of Khloe Kardashian and Emma Grede, its denim range catered to curves up to a size 32, with a ton of different shapes and styles each modelled on a handful of sizes so everyone felt represented and could make informed purchases. It made buying a great-fitting pair of jeans a breeze.
In April 2023 the brand launched its ‘Always Fits’ range, and yes, you guessed correctly, it created its most innovative jeans yet with a one-size-fits-four design. But how could it possibly work when finding a pair of jeans that fit perfectly is such a struggle, let alone one pair that fit four different people?
Naturally we had to put them to the test for you. Here are our findings – they might surprise you…
The classic boot cut

First impressions: I tried the Good American Classic Boot Jeans in deep blue. The denim fabric looks expensive, with a tailored feel that would sit well amongst smart office outfits.
The verdict: Normally, I love a high waist band, but I was surprised at just how high waisted these were, stretching out across my tummy in a way that wasn’t the most flattering or comfortable for me, but others might love. Despite fitting smoothly across my lower thigh, the fabric bunched at my knees and at the tops of my thighs, which detracted from the sleek tailored effect, so I’d recommend wearing these with a pair of heeled boots rather than trainers.
The timeless black jeans

First impressions: I’ve always struggled with finding the right jeans. The fit around the waist and length of the legs are my two biggest problems. I’m also yet to find a comfy pair that I can easily spend the whole day wearing, so I was sceptical about these.
The verdict: I can safely say Good American’s Always Fits range is an absolute DREAM. I styled mine up with a pair of black converse trainers, a white Arket t-shirt and a grey pinstripe blazer from Zara. The material is so stretchy and soft that you literally slide into them. They are by far the comfiest jeans I have ever had. Moving around in them is very easy and I don’t feel desperate to take them off at the end of a long day in the office. Although I always opt for high-waisted jeans, these were a little too high for me, but fit around my waist perfectly. I was a bit sceptical of the concept at first as the fit and shape of a pair of jeans really depends on each body type, but these definitely exceeded my expectations.
The OG skinny jeans

First impressions: I genuinely can’t remember the last time I tried on a pair of skinny jeans, and there isn’t much that would possess me to struggle to get a pair on. That was, until, I was offered a pair of Good American Always Fits jeans to trial, whose premise is offering super-comfortable, supportive and perfectly fitted jeans that customise to your body and movement. Looking at them, I was hesitant at the thought of having to do the jump, wiggle and pull method that all my previous skinny jeans had required.
The verdict: This pair was different; they slid on without any struggle, but I was most impressed at the feel and quality. Honestly, I’ve never felt a pair of denim jeans that were as soft and comfortable as these, especially not in a skinny style. I never wear jeans on a day I know I need a bit of flexibility or comfort, but truthfully, I’d be ready to wear these around the house on my days off… that’s how comfortable they are. This pair hugged all the right areas and let me breathe where I needed to. I’ve never spent more than £50 on a pair of jeans, but I now understand that for the quality and feel, investing in a pair is more than worth it, and I’ll be recommending Good American to anyone who asks where they should look for their next pair of comfortable, flattering jeans.
The ‘tick every box’ jeans

First impressions: I take my jeans seriously and I’m particular about which styles and washes I wear so I knew I’d be a difficult customer – and that’s even before you get to a premise as bold as ‘Always Fits’. I was dubious.
The verdict: I’m a woman of many words, too many words some may say! But after wearing these Good American jeans for the day I feel too stunned to speak. The fit, the comfort, the stretch, they are all absolutely *chefs kiss*. They are what jeggings tried and failed to be – as comfy as leggings yet still chic and high quality. Gone are the days of having to undo my top button after every meal, these jeans stretched with my body and were comfortable beyond words. They look just like regular jeans but feel like a soft, stretchy, second skin and I would happily exclusively wear this Always Fit range over all my other pairs.
The dark straight legs

First impressions: The shape of these is quite modern: I love the slight kick-flare to the straight leg. I won’t go near any jeans or trousers that aren’t high-waisted so I was pleased to see the rise on these.
The verdict: These are *impossibly* stretchy, so much so that you’d be forgiven for thinking you weren’t actually wearing jeans. Even though they’re super high-waisted, you don’t get that dreaded dig when you sit down in them which is a dream. I’m typically a size 12 in jeans but fluctuate between 10, 12 and 14, which is a nightmare for my wardrobe. That’s potentially what I loved most about this pair of jeans: the longevity. Regardless what time of the month it is, I can reach for this pair and they’ll fit thanks to the forgiving design. My only downside? The colour. I’d love a darker wash without the bleach front, and an ivory version too. I’ll be keeping one eye on the site…
