It’s the time of year for the big wardrobe switchover. My autumnal senses are tingling and the idea of knitwear dresses and boots are in the air! Autumn/winter for me personally is where my styling
comes alive.
Finally we can celebrate the true winter hero, the piece that has it all, the one and done outfit game changer… the Knit Maxi Dress. I always find one of my biggest tips is to always shop for the knit ‘midi’ dress which tends to fall at the perfect maxi length dress for all us petite women. An elongated silhouette always helps to appear taller and the dress itself can look more high end than one with a properly maxi sweeping hemline. Bonus points if you keep to one tonal colour or pattern as this also creates the illusion of a taller silhouette – 5ft2 who?
Now being petite and proud can make this journey a challenging one, but do not fear I’ve done the hard work for us and found 4 different maxi dress styles that will be perfect for when there’s that familiar crisp in the air…
Pretty Lavish’s v-neck number
Dreamy autumnal tone? Check! This maxi dress is the perfect body flattering silhouette that skims your figure without drowning you, or feeling too bodycon.
The slit sits at the ideal length to allow for easy movement, and means you don’t have to hide your favorite pair of boots. Win win.
ASOS’ oversized cream dress
I feel every woman needs a cream knitwear dress in her life. It’s a necessity. Take it from me, this one is perfect for those days where you want something that will go with everything but still allow you room to eat and breath.
Just be careful not to go within ten feet of soup, red wine or coffee…
& Other Stories’ ribbed midi
This dress is the true embodiment of autumn and no one can tell me otherwise. It’s a gorgeous heavy weight fabric in a true copper shade with the added spark of fluted bell sleeves.
This dress will do ‘werk’ in your wardrobe this season as it can be styled for more casual events with boots or dressed up with some gold hoops, a red lip and heels. She’s a showstopper.
ASOS’ striped tonal number
Designer dupe alert. Doesn’t this ASOS dress look high end? Yes is the only correct answer.
It’s also a great petite knitted dress option for experimenting with colour and pattern without going too bold. I would style this particular piece as I’ve done here for with the infamously hard to get hold of shearling Birkenstocks for the ultimate cosy, fuzzy combo. Its also the perfect length to be elongating without ruining any hems…
