You guys know I don’t need an excuse to throw on a pop of colour, so when I saw that fuchsia has been dominating the catwalks and the red carpet over the last few months – all in the name of Barbiecore – I just knew that meant we would be seeing iterations on the high street for the autumn/winter months. Barbie the movie is out in July and obviously, I’m thrilled. I went pink-hunting on the high street and I was very pleased to see my theory was right – every brand is in on it.
Pink has captivated us all, mind, body and soul over the past few seasons and we know that dopamine dressing, maximalism is also at the forefront of people’s minds. My own personal feeling with fashion is that it should be fun, it should be uplifting, and there is really nothing more of a mood-boost than wearing fuchsia.
You might be intimidated by a colour this vibrant, but it really is much more flexible than you’d think – easy to wear on it’s own, with neutrals and paired with even more pieces (go big or go home, I say). I’m going to show you a few of my favourite high street finds that are really going to turn some heads this season!
I had to go into Zara because if there’s one retailer that knows how to nail a trend, it’s Zara. And you know by now, I love a co-ord and here this beauty was just waiting to be worn together. Such a showstopper, easy to wear, easy to mix and match – the best way to add a trend into your wardrobe, in my humble opinion.
This limited edition Zara blazer is perfect if you’re keen on a pared-back pink.
If you want to add a bit more colour into your wardrobe but are more of a fan of keeping it neutral, this subtle stripe shirt is a lovely option. You get the sophistication of the classic stripe but with the added playfulness of the pop of fuchsia running through. When paired with a standard camel trouser, you’re set for a workwear option for the office.
Next I had to run into Mango because I saw this fuzzy pink cropped sweater which immediately gave me all of the y2k nostalgia! This jumper was seriously too cute to pass up and the fuzzy texture just gives it a little extra something, you know? You could also size up and use it as a layering piece over a crisp white shirt. She’s versatile!
I think Mango do shirts and suiting so well, I really love this striped print shirt which is so great for layering. You could easily pair this with a neutral trouser and neutral blazer to have a pop of colour.
I popped into Anthropologie and was so thrilled to find this midi skirt – this is another wardrobe staple that just isn’t going anywhere and this bias cut style is so beautiful on everyone, I was so happy they had it in a fuchsia colour to make it feel more moder.! You can dress this up with strappy sandals but also make it more wearable for day-to-day with chunky trainers or knee high boots.
Last but not least, I knew COS wouldn’t let me down. COS is the place that I think of immediately for classic pieces with a twist so I knew they would be all over fuchsia in a way that feels timeless. This shirt dress immediately fit the bill. It’s a heavy cotton so a perfect transitional piece, comfortable and can be worn with trainers or chunky dad sandals.
Hopefully that’s sparked a few ideas on how to inject a bit of pink inspo into your wardrobe – whether that’s comfy co-ords, classic tailoring, or easy-to-wear dresses – I hope you’re able to have a bit of fun with fuchsia this spring/summer in time for Barbie the movie!
Pink outfit inspiration
Barbie pink trousers are a great entry point into the trend.
A pink slip skirt will be a staple when the weather warms up. Wear it now with white trainers and a grey knit.
If a full-fuchsia look feels too much, pair a bold knit with a pale skirt, then go for punchy contrasting accessories or all-white ones.
