If I’m thinking about cult label Rixo, it’s their kaleidoscopic printed midi dresses that first spring to mind.
Founded in 2015 by Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey, Rixo has quickly risen to fame with £200+ dresses that are instantly recognisable for their fresh take on vintage-inspired silhouettes and their style-led spin on bright, colourful and retro prints.
Since, I’ve seen Rixo dresses at every kind of special occasion, including birthday parties, engagement drinks, weddings, and Ascot. Not a designer label, but not a high street store either, Rixo cleverly positioned itself as an aspirational and exclusive brand with a #HumansOfRixo club that anyone could buy into, but only if they were willing to pay £200+ on a dress.
They’re pricey and while I’d be tempted to buy a Rixo dress for a very special occasion, or would consider renting one, I can’t fight my inner desire to find some Rixo dupes for all the events I’ve got coming up.
This season, the collection includes bright midi dresses in retro and floral prints, gingham, polka dots and leopard prints. Maybe you’ll be tempted by the originals, but if you’re looking for some alternatives we’ve got you covered too.

Retro prints
Checkerboards, swirls, polka dots… you name it and Rixo will have put their own spin on these classic retro prints. But, if £245 is too much of a stretch, these dupes make just as much of a statement.
Florals
The mood for wearing florals this spring is the bolder the better. So, if you’re a fan of Rixo’s Selma dress, you’ll love these high street floral dresses too.
Rixo’s Malibu poppy dress has been spotted on Holly Willoughby, so it won’t be around for long.
Snap up the original, or these similar versions for a moody floral winter mini dress that’ll make your legs look super long.
Gingham dresses
If you’re not a florals fan, but are looking for a spring dress to freshen up your wardrobe, gingham prints are a great alternative. I love these green midis from Rixo and Nobody’s Child.
Contrasting prints
One of Rixo’s classic motifs is a contrasting print, where a signature midi silhouette will have one bold print on the bodice of a dress next to a different print on the sleeves.
Bow dresses
For an occasion dress that has a little edge, the Leanna midi is top of my wish-list. It’s figure-hugging, but sophisticated. Eye-catching, but effortless. Luckily for us, there’s lots of similar styles on the high street too.
Leopard print dresses
Leopard print is fashion’s marmite, you either love it or hate it. Only the Rixo Karen Bohemia leopard print style might convert the haters, thanks to it’s diamanté centrepiece, sweetheart neckline, extra fitted bodice and exaggerated puff sleeves, all adding to it’s vintage vibes.
Party sequins
Wear your sequin dresses with high necklines or long sleeves for a retro Rixo spin.
This year we’re not saving our sequins just for party season, pull them out for birthdays, dinners and even glam summer wedding guest outfits. If you don’t want to buy a Rixo version right now, you also have the option of renting one.
Feather dresses
Up the sophistication and glam with a smattering of feathers. The Rixo Lena dress is extra sumptuous (and I’m a huge fan of velvet dresses), but the Coast Bardot mini dress and Warehouse feather bandeau midi are just as head-turning.
More printed dresses
In my search for the best Rixo dress dupes, these are some of my favourite printed dresses I’ve spotted on the high street. Wear with your favourite knee high boots or stompy boots for wearing everyday, or dress them up with statement jewellery and party shoes.
