If you recognise the brands Baum und Pferdgarten, Ganni, Gestuz, Rotate, Saks Potts and Stine Goya –all showcasing at Copenhagen Fashion Week in August – you’ll spot that there’s a distinct theme: exciting brands packed with personality. Their vibes are distinctly colourful, cool and playful; mixing prints, bold colours and sequins is the norm.
There’s no surprise that Scandinavian countries are therefore home to some of the most well-known influencers, whose outfits I can’t help but dream of re-creating. So many of them have mastered the art of curating eclectic pieces together, while making every outfit look effortless and modern. You’ll also find some of our favourite brands on the high street have Scandinavian roots, including H&M, Arket, Weekday and NA-KD.
I’ve picked out the outfits I’ve spotted on my favourite Scandi influencers’ summer Insta grids, and while there are still plenty of looks that draw upon minimalist and expensive-looking aesthetics, there are also refreshing pops of colour, clever layering, and one of the biggest trends of the moment: crochet.
My favourite Scandi influencer outfits of the summer (and where to shop them):
Bold dress energy
Pernille Rosenkilde, Marianne Theodorsen, Annabel Rosendahl, Janka Polliani and Nina Sandbech show us the power of wearing a bright dress for special events and the summer wedding season ahead. Whether you pick block colour like Pernille’s pink puff sleeve dress, over-the-top florals as seen on an earlier CFW frow, or take on a colourful sheer dress like Nina, it’s guaranteed you’ll feel amazing.
Crochet separates
Every holiday wardrobe for 2023 needs some crochet. Not only are crochet separates and dresses the easiest outfits to pack because they don’t crease, they’ll instantly put you into holiday beach mode as soon as you take them out your suitcase.
Bright trousers
A quick way to dip your toe into Scandi influencer style is through colourful trousers or jeans. An influencer on the front row might wear colourful trousers and tops together, but you can also keep the outfit simple by wearing a statement pair of trousers with a plain white tee or tank tops.
Cute tops + colourful shirts
The same styling principles work for eclectic tops and bright neon shirts, which are easy to pair with classic pairs of blue denim jeans or shorts like Matilda Djerf and Janka Polliani.
Modern monochrome
A step away from the bright colours and prints, you’ll see some of our favourite Scandi girls making a case for sleek monochrome looks. It’s the clever proportions of these two outfits that stand out from a styling perspective for me, from Felicia Akerstrom’s cropped jacket and high waisted, loose-fitting trousers to Katarina Krebs wide-leg boxy trousers and simple cami, both of which create the perfect monochrome contrast.
White shirts
Wearing head-to-toe bright white is a brave move (I dare you to sip a coffee!), but if you want that expensive summer look, you’ll claim ultimate chic style points.
Summer layering + tailoring
You can count on the Scandi girls for effortless layering and tailoring, even in summer when they bring linen co-ords and silky slip skirts into their stylish mix of outfits. Here are some of my favourite looks and pieces from the high street to re-create them.
Statement accessories
Scandi girls never forget accessories, from statement cowboy boots to chic leather handbags.
