This wedding season is already proving to be rather expensive. I have five lovely ceremonies to attend this year alone. That’s five whole looks to conjure up without a bottomless bank account to play with.
So, I set myself the challenge of sticking to a £150 budget for each event – and that includes the accessories too.
Here’s what I plan on wearing…
The UK summer wedding
My childhood friend is eloping to Yorkshire this July. I’m hoping it will be hot hot hot, however we might need umbrellas as well as sun cream – but I’m looking on the bright side and preparing for heat.
I’m not part of the wedding party, which always allows a little more freedom on what you wear. And whatever it is, I need to be able to dance the night away in it.
That’s why I have opted for this striking pink, floral number from Nobody’s Child. Not only does it get the sustainable green tick, it’s lightweight and breezy. Perfect for clammy venues as well as hanging around in the sunshine between the service and the reception.
My shoes need to be comfy – a neutral block heel will work nicely. I’ll pair those with a classic clutch to effortlessly tie your outfit together.
And if you’re on the hunt for bargain jewels, make Accessorize your go-to. These chunky hoops are a total steal.
Total spend: £102.98
The destination wedding
Ibiza in August? Yes please. For this one I want something flirty and a bit bohemian to fit the Mediterranean vibes and this dress from Mango is perfect.
Beaded bags are the ultimate holiday must-have – this metallic one from ASOS is sure to dazzle. While secure yet strappy heels are also a necessity when it comes to old town cobbles. I rate this silver pair which are an absolute steal in the sale.
To finish, I intend to wear a pair of mini hoops for even more sparkle. The more the better in my opinion.
Total spend: £132.97
Sister of the Groom
Being a core member of the wedding party means more eyes on you. For this event I wanted something slightly more traditional with sleeves and a midi hemline.
This pink polka dot number will do just the trick. The mesh adds a fun element while the cut is formal – and a ruffle tiered skirt is flattering around any waistline.
Adding another colour to this outfit would detract from the printed stand-out dress. Instead, I’ll use metallic as a neutral when it comes to pairing my accessories. This shiny shoulder bag is a serious bargain and these strappy sandals add an edge to the look.
Total spend: £148.99
Sister of the Bride
This time around I’m my big sister’s Maid of Honour. She has kindly allowed me free reign over what I wear, so to mix things up, I’m feeling a power suit.
Mango’s linen suit is a fantastic find for less and perfect for hot summer days.
Underneath it, a simple black lace bralette will do very nicely, as I intend to keep the jacket tied up all day. I’m going for a block colour look here rather than a clash so white mules will do the trick.
The final flourish: a bejewelled, satin headband to compliment the co-ord.
Total £145.97
The winter wedding
December weddings are perhaps my favourite for the festive energy at that time of year. Sleeves are a must-have here as who knows what the weather will be like.
I adore this plisse style from Oasis for its charming print and ruffled cuffs.
This simple, yet striking, bow accessory pulls the whole look together and adds to the preppy feel.
All that’s needed is a simple black, mini bag for lippie and a bank card – et voilà!
