Dressing for a wedding is bound to cause a style dilemma or two. The golden rule I try to live by, is that if I come across the perfect dress, but at the time of finding it I don’t have an event in the diary to wear it, I buy it. There’s nothing remotely enjoyable about trying to find something last minute to wear to a special occasion.
I’d argue that you’re less likely to find something you truly love while under pressure to make a purchase, and so less likely to feel confident on the day and to re-wear said purchase to other events. Having something you’re excited to wear already hanging in your wardrobe makes dressing for an event infinitely less painless. Trust me.

An embellished dress

Head-to-toe black
Can you wear black to a wedding? I’d say absolutely yes, particularly if it’s a winter one. Use Hailey Bieber, who regularly offers up a dose of gorgeous minimalist style inspiration, in this strapless Saint Laurent design as your point of reference.
A subtle crystal embellishment on the dress and accompanying jewellery is a nice touch, as is paired back peachy-hued makeup. Top with an oversize black blazer (it is a winter wedding after all) and pair with pointed-toe stilettos if your stamina allows.
A pair of sunglasses, à la Beiber, might be just the final flourish your look requires. Alternatively, add an embellished headband or pearl slides.

Winter florals
Actor Barbie Ferreira (you will likely know her as Kat from Euphoria) is no newcomer to making a bold style statement. Her Instagram is brimming with fabulous fashion inspiration and this floral maxi dress, which is both dramatic and romantic (ergo, perfect for a winter wedding) in equal parts, is no exception.
Loose, mermaid-esque waves and a bold lip will be the perfect partner for your winter florals, as will some pearl jewellery. Top with a faux-fur coat and add a pair of long gloves for maximum impact.
