Picture this: it’s Monday morning, your alarm goes off for the 3rd time and you reluctantly avoid hitting the snooze button again. It’s time to get up. After a quick shower you find yourself staring into your wardrobe spending precious time you most definitely do not have wondering what you’re going to wear to the office, AGAIN. Yep, we’ve all been there.
If this sounds familiar fret not, as I’ve got seven simple outfit combinations that’ll make workwear dressing feel like no work at all. Get ready for all the inspo you need for boss-level dressing without the stress…
A shirt + wide leg trousers
For an easy office look that’s sure to hit the mark every time, opt for simple separates like a shirt and wide leg trousers. Lighter fabrics, like linen and cotton, work great for warmer days but as it’s still pretty chilly outside go for heavier fabrics for added cosiness.
If your office is more relaxed, pair your shirt and trousers with leather trainers, or, for a more formal feel tap into the menswear trend and wear with a pair of brogue or loafers, and a matching separates set.
A trouser suit
The trouser suit is a workwear staple so if you haven’t already add one to your wardrobe ASAP. For a twist on a classic, go for minimalist-friendly tones of grey or beige. They’re incredibly versatile, working with everything from satin shirts to a Breton t-shirt, without feeling as heavy as a traditional black suit. Best of all, you can wear your blazer and trousers separately for even more outfit options making them a great cost-conscious buy.
A knit + midi skirt
The combination of a jumper and midi skirt is one that will never go out of style making it the perfect office outfit you can return to again and again.
To pull this combo off, it’s important to think about proportions: a fitted knit will look great paired with an A-line or full skirt, or, French tuck a chunky knit into a slimmer pencil skirt to create a sense of balance. Don’t be afraid to play with textures too – pair a ribbed knit with a faux-leather skirt for a chic contrast.
A shirt dress
Every good workwear wardrobe needs a hardworking dress, especially for those days when you wake up late and have no time to decide what to wear.
A shirt dress is the ideal hassle-free option: simply throw it on and finish with a pair of sandals or knee-high boots for the ultimate in fuss-free dressing. Add some interest to your outfit by going for a bold colour or a utility style.
A jumpsuit
Here at the Eliza office, we swear by a jumpsuit for all occasions. When choosing a jumpsuit, it’s important to think about the style: if you regularly find yourself in meetings or facing clients a tailored cut will give a put together feel, or, for a more relaxed setting try a utility style or a boilersuit.
The great thing about a jumpsuit is they take minimal thought when it comes to styling, just throw it on with your favourite court heels or trainers for instant chic.
A blazer + midi dress
Want to make your favourite midi dress office appropriate? It’s simple, add a blazer. Instantly smartening up any outfit, it’s an easy way to elevate your look without having to invest in a whole new outfit.
To ensure your blazer works with the maximum number of outfits, go for neutral tones in shades of black, grey or beige. And don’t worry if you find yourself buying a new dress too, there are so many amazing options in the shops at the moment, we don’t blame you. Our current favourite style? Boho style tiered maxis look great when contrasted with a smart blazer.
A blazer + slip skirt
If you’re planning to head for drinks or dinner after work, you need an outfit that can easily be transformed for both occasions. A blazer, cami and slip skirt is the perfect outfit to suit whatever the day throws at you.
A blazer will give your outfit a polished feel for the office, then when cocktail hour calls you can slip it off or drape it over your shoulders for added glam. Finish with low heels to ensure you can run for that meeting and dance into the night too.
