I won’t lie to you, my interest in astrology is pretty surface deep. I follow a myriad astrology meme accounts that mostly tell me that as a Virgo, I’m a perfectionist who overthinks everything and only dates for men who need, ahem, fixing.
Now, I can’t confirm or deny any of that, but this is all to say that I really don’t know that much about astrology – just that it’s all a bit of fun to me.
I’ll admit that I do like to indulge in the personality traits in particular, even if they may be a bit stereotypical (and often feel like a personal attack); think the over-emotional water signs, the attention-seeking fire signs, work-obsessed earth signs and flaky air signs. See? Personal attacks.
That being said, I seem to have absorbed a lot of information (or misinformation, depending on how you take it) on the different traits of each sign from my constant scrolling of the aforementioned meme accounts. So much so that my drunken party trick these days is giving chart readings to anyone who will listen, assisted by the Co-Star app and Café Astrology’s rising sign calculator, of course.
With differing traits, there surely comes different approaches to style? So, here we go – my stylish guide on how to dress for your zodiac sign based on the invalid opinions of a Virgo sun, Libra moon and Sagittarius rising…
Gemini
Our two-faced queens like to switch it up – get you a girl that can do both – am I right? Day-to-night dressing is great for this sign as they can be a tad indecisive (or, naturally, in two minds…) about things so need an outfit that can be as flexible as their plans are.
Aries
The first sign of the zodiac, Aries is always giving main character energy. A fearless sign, Aries aren’t afraid to take style risks and their spontaneous nature means they can be varied with their outfit choices – think sequins, animal print and bold hues.
Taurus
It’s all about luxury for our indulgent Taurus girlies. Chilled out but set in their ways, they find a style that works for them and stick to it, but you better believe they have a taste for the finer things in life.
Cancer
Soft Girl Season is upon us. Ruled by the moon, self-care is important to a cancer so they have a great collection of cosy clothes perfect for a night in with a face mask.
Leo
“Hello, I’m hot” – a Leo. A statement piece is essential for the leaders of the pack. Confidence oozes from a Leo and they only need to fight an Aries to be the centre of attention.
They are attention getters, not attention seekers and their outré style is a reflection of this.
Virgo
The best sign ever, if I do say so myself. As perfectionists, we love a well considered outfit and are obsessed with the details, so finishing touches, by way of gold hoops, accessories and styling, is where we shine. Always put together.
Libra
This sign is driven by aesthetics, so appearance is very important to a Libra.
As an aesthete, they’re constantly pulling references from everything they see, so outfits will be based on whatever you inspired them on Instagram that week.
Scorpio
Our gorgeous scorpions come with a little sting. When it comes to their style, the sting is that something that sets your look apart.
One of the sexiest signs, they don’t have to try hard with their outfits to have maximum impact.
Sagittarius
Independent, free-spirited and adventurous, this is a sign on the move so they’re sure to dress for any eventuality.
The true travellers of the zodiac, this is a look that’ll take them from everywhere from brunch to drinks, to the airport and city sightseeing.
Capricorn
Classics are on-brand for a Capricorn. This sign is always ready for the boardroom, even if they are in a tracksuit, you’d better believe they look slick. There is sophistication in anything a Capricorn wears.
Aquarius
Individual and experimental, Aquarians are true originals and can often have eccentric style which means they can unwittingly become trendsetters with their unexpected outfit combinations.
Pisces
Dreamy and whimsical, a Pisces loves to be in her feelings so intuitive dressing to suit their mood is the key to their style. A touch of romance also doesn’t go amiss.
