There’s a lot riding on an NYE night out. Unlike any other Saturday evening, you won’t forget where you were come midnight and seeing in the new year, so everything – from the venue to the company to your outfit – needs extra consideration.
Having bought in many a 1st January in a London nightclub, I’m best placed to advise on the clubbing outfits that are comfy enough for hours on the dancefloor, warm enough for travelling in freezing temperatures and that make an impact in all your social media content. As well as that, it’s *the club* so no matter when you’re heading there over party season, you still want to look just as cool and confident, as you do sexy and chic.

Unlike shopping for cute party dresses any other time of the year, in December, you can’t move for great eveningwear on the high street, so there are tons of options around right now. Here are the pieces to buy and outfits to try first:
What to wear clubbing in 2022:
The bodysuit + leather trousers
If you’re not a dress-wearer, fear not. Although clubbing is synonymous with LBDs and shimmery mini dresses, they’re not the only options. Leather trousers are having a moment this season, so pairing them with a cut-out bodysuit makes for a modern, slick look.
Pair with the highest strappy gold heels you can find and hoop earrings.
The shimmery mini dress + platforms
As soon as you start dancing you’ll whip this blazer off, but until then, it’s a smart cover-up that adds an edge to a strapless mini. This sparkly JW Pei bag *is* the moment and a simple black and silver outfit gives it the chance to shine.
A glam pair of satin platforms are a no-brainer for added height without the added pain or impracticality, and this Boden pair is as comfy as they come.
Velvet mini dress + statement earrings
How cute is this velvet mini? If you’re looking to standout in your Instagram pics, festive red is the way to go, and if this vintage-esque dress doesn’t get you attention at the bar, these pearl-studded heart hoops certainly will.
I’d pair this with black mules for a sleek look, but knee-high boots would add an edgy touch. This bag is roomy enough for a cheeky pair of flats if you need to do a quick swap post-dancing, too.
The printed cami dress + boots
Clubbing-aficionados know that a sexy cami dress is a great option: it’s lightweight so stops you getting too hot, skims rather than clings, and looks fabulous without looking try-hard. Knee-high boots stop it looking too prissy, but it would look great with trainers if you’re going to a casual club.
A cropped faux fur jacket brings all the glamour, and you’ll be grateful for it on the way to McDonald’s at 3am.
The sexy cardi and mini skirt
If the aim of your look is ‘sexy’, look no further than this cardigan. I know, but bear with me. This midriff-flashing style is such a good option if you want to look flirty but not OTT. The tinsel effect nods to the festive season without looking cheesy, and a plain mini skirt pares it all down.
Personally, I’d wear it with party-ready gold accessories, but if you want to go low-key, black strappy mules would look just as good.
The leather dress + colour pop platforms
If you can’t wear satin, feathers, leather and diamante to a club, then *when* can you? The time is now.
This feather-trimmed dress is crying out for a club night – lime green platforms add a fun element and sparkly drop earrings bring the glitz. A shimmery crossbody bag is an underrated club accessory – you won’t worry about leaving it on a bar stool and it keeps your hands free for margaritas.
