The only chat in the Eliza office this week has been surrounding the return of hit HBO series Succession. Based around the Roy family and the fortunes of its massive media and entertainment empire, Waystar Royco, familial drama and politics take centre stage as the Roy siblings fight to take over the company once their father steps down.
Naturally, workwear outfits are the fashion highlight of Succession. Shiv Roy – the only daughter – serves *looks* throughout the first three seasons, and thanks to the teasers dropping all over social media, we know she’s just as chic in season four.
Think a (new) array of pinstripe blazers, silk shirts galore and sleek accessories – and that’s before we even get to the rest of the Roy fam. Expect chunky dad trainers, caps and neutral linen shirts, the perfect spring outfit formula, IMHO.
So what are the fashion lessons we can learn from Succession? And how about outfit ideas from our favourite main characters? Well, if you’re after some new season workwear tips ahead of the season four premiere, look no further as the Roys have it down pat. These are the Succession outfit ideas to know…
Try tonal dressing
Hands down, the easiest way to look expensive is to dress in one shade head-to-toe. It’s a formula regularly adopted by dozens of luxury fashion houses, from Celine and Max Mara to Bottega Veneta and The Row. So who are we to argue? It looks polished and put together so it’s no wonder Shiv turns to tonal looks regularly.
She sticks to neutrals, naturally, so navy, camel and taupe are her go-tos, but the expensive tonal look works no matter which shade, so go punchy in lilac or green if you dare.
Accessories are key
Adding an accessory or two to even the most already-stylish workwear looks brings it up a notch, whether that’s by way of a pair of tortoiseshell sunnies or a chunky watch, so don’t be afraid to pile them on – within reason, of course. The main Succession takeaway is subtle luxury, so give big brand logos a miss and go for sleek under-the-radar pieces in minimal styles.
Knits are great for the office
A chunky striped number might spring to mind when you first think ‘knitwear’, and while that has its place on weekends, by day, a sleeker style is needed for work. Just ask Shiv, who regularly spots fitted knit dresses and ribbed cardigans, both of which lend themselves to a smart workwear wardrobe thanks to the clean silhouette.
Spring in the UK still means knitwear (sadly), so go lighter and brighter and team a cream fine knit cardigan with matching wide-leg trousers and pearl earrings à la Shiv.

Blazers should be your go-to
I wax lyrical on a weekly basis about how vital a good blazer is to a modern wardrobe. Throw one on over a printed midi dress, a slogan T-shirt, a fine knit or a ribbed vest top and you’ve got yourself a smarter, more polished outfit.
You’ll catch almost every Roy family member in one in almost every episode and the reason makes sense. Want to appear like you’ve got your life together, are serious and responsible and mean business? A blazer is the only jacket to wear.
Silk shirts are a sleek wardrobe addition
If you’re wary of a silk shirt appearing mature, fear not as it’s all in the styling. If you steer it into smart/casual territory, you’re onto a winner.
Shiv is en route to world (ok, Waystar RoyCo) domination, so her looks lean on the smart side. Day to day though, I’d recommend contrasting a relaxed silk shirt with straight leg jeans and trainers or loafers for smarter offices. The texture clash and high-low balance give it a modern feel.
The most important shopping tip? Always size up. Buttons that gape over the bust, too short sleeves and tight shoulder seams will ruin the look.
