It’s almost the end of the year and whilst everyone else is thinking of new year’s resolutions, I’m planning outfits for all the parties and catch ups I’ll be cramming into the next six weeks.
This week I visited Jolene, a chic, contemporary restaurant situated on Newington Green, recommended by the fabulous cosmetic doctor Dr Ewoma Ukeleghe on TikTok. My friend treated me to a belated birthday dinner, and she said I had to dress up, so as usual, I didn’t disappoint!
The issue I find with mid-week plans is dressing comfortably for the office, but still looking good enough for post-work plans – long gone are the days in my early twenties that I would drag a change of outfit along for my after-work shenanigans.
As the last thing I like to worry about on the night is my outfit, I own several co-ords that make pulling a look together a little bit easier for me. Sleeper has always been my favourite brand for these types of occasions. If you don’t know it, it nails luxurious and versatile loungewear – you’ll definitely have seen its feather-trimmed pyjamas on Instagram, but they’re far too glam for actual lounging!
I wore my black Sleeper set to dinner and paired them with an old pair of Topshop neon heeled sandals. The weather didn’t care for my incredible outfit as it started pouring just before I left, so I threw on a khaki hooded quilted coat from Zara to protect myself (and my feathers!). I was so thankful for the elasticated waist because the food was incredible.
I also went to a gig after work with colleagues this week, and as I tend to dress based on my mood, rather than the occasion, I opted for a very modest look that evening. I wore a navy silk skirt which hugged me in all the right places. I’d spotted this cream long-sleeved turtleneck top from H&M in store recently, which I knew would serve me well when I want to make minimal effort. It also comes in purple which I may or may not have bought, too.
Over the knee boots are now a wardrobe staple for me during the cold months, and this time last year I found my perfect pair. These white knee length boots from Zara are comfortable, work-appropriate and versatile enough for me to pair with anything. I’ve absolutely had my money’s worth with these boots, despite having seating tickets I managed to stand all night in them! Of course, nothing good is ever in stock for long in Zara, so I’ve shared some other similar options so we can all be part of over the white boots crew!
I finished my look with a thick houndstooth blazer from Mango. As I often like to match my lipstick to my outfits, I felt the blazer went perfectly with my signature red lipstick from Beauty Bakerie called Cranberry Stiletto. This blazer was also a co-ord but I unfortunately couldn’t get my hands on the matching skirt, so I settled for having it as a standalone piece and it’s now one of my favourite blazers.
Next week I’ll be attending a beauty launch and planning my outfit for an awards ceremony. See you all then!
