I’ve finally given into the colder weather this week now that my morning commute to the office feels distinctly chillier. So, it’s safe to say that a simple top or T-shirt is no longer going to cut it. And with our favourite shop windows now adorned with gorgeous winter pieces, I’m declaring cosy season officially open!
A well-curated knit collection is essential, not just from a comfort perspective, but it’s also vital for a stylish winter wardrobe. Whether you’re looking to nail comfy off-duty looks, or after some chic options you can wear to the office and out for dinner, the high street is flooded with so many expensive-looking pieces at affordable price points.

Cosy knit style inspo:
Striped jumpers
Trust me when I say a striped jumper will be one of your most worn items. They go with everything from trousers to silk skirts and can be paired with boots, trainers or loafers. Plus, who doesn’t want to emulate Parisian chic?
Turtleneck and roll-neck jumpers
The turtleneck jumper is by far my favourite style. If you want to elevate a simple outfit, *this* is the answer. They’re elegant and make your body look longer (take note, petites) due to their high necks. They’re also great on top of dresses or with maxi skirts for a modest wintry look.
Cardigans
Cardigans are so versatile you can pretty much wear them for any occasion. Off to a party and need a warmer layer? Pop it on over your dress. Out for dinner and drinks? Wear it with a cute top. Need to run some errands? Throw on leggings and an oversized style.
Half-zip jumpers
The half-zip jumper is underrated, IMHO. The best thing about this style is its versatility. If you’re after more of a turtleneck look then you can simply zip it up, or if you’re after that casual off-duty look then just unzip it to your preferred length.
V-neck jumpers
My go-to way of styling a V-neck jumper is by wearing it with a white shirt underneath. It’s the perfect office outfit combination and will always look classy.
Oversized jumpers
Give me anything oversized, and I will never take it off. It’s like being wrapped in a blanket all winter long. Oversized jumpers go especially well with a pair of wide-leg trousers and a long coat. It’s definitely got expensive written all over it.
Sweater vests
Say hello to the most versatile knitwear piece of them all: sweater vests. Wear them atop shirts, blouses, dresses (there’s nothing they won’t go with) and even on their own while we’re still in the midst of autumnal weather. I usually style mine with a shirt, short skirt, tights, long black coat, boots and a crossbody bag.
Cable-knit jumpers
Wearing a chunky cable-knit jumper is the easiest way to add some texture to your outfit, especially if you’re in a rush and want to look polished and effortlessly chic.
Off-the-shoulder jumpers
Now, the off-the-shoulder jumper is a great way of adding a little sexy touch to an outfit. It highlights the décolleté and is perfect for when you’re looking for an evening outfit that’s cosy but also has an extra something.
Open-collar jumpers
If you’re looking to smarten up your winter wardrobe, then the open-collar jumper is the perfect addition. Although the style became a big hit in the 70s, it’s now a modern wardrobe staple. Wear it to the office with a smart pair of loafers and trousers, or to a Sunday roast in jeans and trainers and you can’t go wrong.
